Surprise Engagement!

So this session was very important to me and I want to share all of it with you! And when I say all of it, I mean the ups and downs of planning this surprise proposal. When Dylan contacted me about photographing his proposal to Megan, I was beyond excited! Megan has been one of my best friends since we were in junior high, when we became friends because we were constantly mistaken for each other. I have been there for all of Megan and Dylan's relationship, from the two of them having a crush on each other when we were sophomores in high school to their long distance relationship in college. It only made sense for me to be there for this exciting moment in their relationship too, right!?

Towards the end of college, Megan and I started looking at engagement rings so I could help Dylan out a little bit when the time came. When August of this year came around, I was prepared with pictures of what she was looking for. Of course, things never go as planned, so I ended up getting tons and tons of pictures sent to my phone of rings. Finally, he decided on a ring but we had to figure out how to get Megan away for him to bring the ring home and hide it. I was planning a trip to Nashville for early October, so I had Dylan convince Megan to take the trip with me so he could get the ring situation figured out. Well, of course, things don't go as planned, and we end up pushing the proposal back a couple of weeks.

Next comes planning the proposal. Dylan and I met on a Friday after work at a park the two of them had been talking about exploring, but hadn't had a chance to yet. On my way to meeting him there, I end up pulling up right next to Megan on an exit ramp. I do not live in that area, so I knew if she saw me, we were busted. Somehow, she didn't see me, and everything was okay. Dylan and I planned it all out for that Sunday.

Sunday comes, and I am almost exposed again when the car I parked next to, which hid my car, moves. Seriously, I have no clue how she didn't see me for any of this. After watching them go to the place that Dylan and I had planned, all of our hard work paid off, and I was able to capture my best friend make the decision to spend the rest of her life with the man of her dreams.

This has to be one of the most fun and rewarding sessions I have been able to capture all year. If you are thinking of having someone photograph your proposal, I highly recommend it! It is a very special time and it is something that should be documented! Here are some of my favorite shots taken right after the proposal!
