How To Plan For Weddings On Different Days

Typically, you think of weddings happening on Saturdays. Sometimes, that isn’t always possible, or there are reasons why one day works better than others. Maybe it is because one day is cheaper than others to rent the venue, or you had to reschedule your wedding due to COVID-19. Either way, there are several things that you have to think about when it comes to planning your wedding on either a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Friday Weddings:

Friday weddings are becoming more and more popular. I mean, it is a great way to start off your weekend, right? Plus, if you work a traditional Monday through Friday job, this gives you two extra days of the weekend to start your honeymoon! Some wedding venues also offer a discount for Friday weddings as well because it is less popular.

If you are going to get married on a Friday, I always recommend that your ceremony starts a bit later. Why is this? Well some people are unable to get off of work early for one reason or another. If you plan your ceremony for 6PM or 7PM, this gives them time to get home, change, and come to your wedding. By pushing your ceremony back a little bit, this allows more friends and family to come!

With that being said, I would highly recommend doing a first look with your fiance, especially if you are getting married when the days are shorter like winter or early spring. By doing a first look, you can ensure that you still get the beautiful photos you have dreamed of.

Saturday Weddings:

Saturday weddings are the most common days for weddings because most people are off of work. You typically don’t have to worry too much about people’s schedules as most people tend to be open on weekends. Although, if you have friends with kids or family members with kids involved in sports, there is a good chance that they have games on Saturdays, which may prevent them from being there.

The downfall of a Saturday wedding is that they tend to be the most expensive day to rent a venue. It is the prime day for weddings, so you will also pay a premium price. With that being said, all of the vendors you will need are likely to book up faster than a if it were a different day. If you book far enough in advance though, you should be just fine!

The best thing about Saturday weddings is that you have a lot more flexibility with your timeline. If you don’t want to do a first look, that’s fine. Do a 4PM ceremony and you will have time for everything before the sun goes down!

Sunday Weddings:

Sunday weddings are becoming more and more popular, especially with all of the rescheduling from COVID-19. My husband and I got married on a Sunday, and it was perfect for us. If you don’t think your crowd will be dancing and drinking all night, then Sundays are a good idea.

Sunday weddings have to take place earlier in the day, but not too early that it interferes with church. You have to find that sweet spot, which is usually 2PM or 3PM for a ceremony. Sunday weddings tend to be over by 9PM because everyone wants to get home and get prepared for work the next day.

The benefit of a Sunday wedding is that venues tend to be less expensive, which is always a good thing. Other vendors tend to have more availability on Sundays as well because it is a less common day. On the other side, your wedding day will probably be a bit shorter and won’t go late into the night. Also, if you are having guests in from out of town, it can cause problems due to work schedules.

With all of that being said, what day of the week do you think would be best for your wedding?
