5 Questions to Answer If You Should Write Your Own Vow

Should you write your own vows? Have you decided to write your wedding vows with your fiancé? Do you have no idea where to begin? Considering writing your own wedding vows is a great effort. Outlining your affection, your wishes, and your promise to your partner in a couple of minutes, it's worth it.  It's a time to tell your story, give guests a glimpse of what makes your relationship unique, and express meaningful words with the person you love. Vows are a profoundly intimate and meaningful aspect of a wedding ceremony. Your wedding vows are the words of devotion to a shared life that identify you as a married couple.

Getting married is a lifetime's promise of love and one of the most romantic moments you will ever experience. Finding the right words to say that completely express your love and commitment is a vital part of the wedding planning process.  Some couples prefer the traditional way, while others love to write their own.

The first thing to remember when writing your wedding vows is to talk from your heart. However, some people can find it difficult to put this on paper. If you're up to a vow challenge, we're here to help you answer these questions and get started. You can share this on Instagram or with friends who are considering whether or not they should write their own vow.

1.   Are you nervous talking in front of other people?

If you are, sometimes it's better to write a letter to each other than to read your vows during the ceremony. The idea of creating their own wedding vows and then sharing them in front of family and friends can be daunting to most couples. It's not easy to wrap up your feelings about your partner, your marriage, and your plans in a few short paragraphs. If you have something more to say, you can write a longer version of your vows in a letter to send to your partner on your wedding night. Isn't it sweet to receive a letter of love the night before your wedding?

2.   Are you going to have a first look?

If you are, you can skip writing your vows and say how you feel in the first look. When a couple sees each other for the first time on their wedding day, it is known as the first look. It is one of the most unforgettable moments of the day, for a brief moment, all of the discomfort and anticipation fade away, and the couple has a close relationship that they will treasure for the rest of their lives. This private moment is usually captured in an emotional photograph. To speak from your heart with words of love is a precious way to express your love for your partner, and to do so on your first look is a remarkable piece of your wedding vow.

3.   Are you emotional and you think you're going to have trouble getting through?

This could go either way! It's super sweet to see those emotions, but it can be difficult for you as well. When writing meaningful wedding vows, it's all about expressing your love from the heart and putting your feelings on paper, but this isn't always easy. Practice saying them in front of a mirror or a friend can help you, if you want to say it loudly in front of other people. Your vows are meant to represent how you feel and talk in real life. It's a good thing to have them memorized on a day, but it's not necessary. To express yourself naturally and emotionally is a moment that will never be forgotten in your lifetime.

4.   Do you want to keep those words between the two of you?

Skip and read the traditional ones. Traditional does not always mean "boring." If vows are sincere, they aren't boring and repetitive. Traditional vows are beautiful enough to stand alone for classic couples and these wedding vows in the traditional sense are short and sweet, with a more solemn and formal language. This also has a deeper meaning, since words are also specific and unique. Traditions, ceremonies, and celebrations have accompanied weddings for centuries and will certainly continue to do so in the future. So, keeping with Traditional vows is always worthy.

5.   Do you want the world to know how you feel about it?

It's the perfect time to read your vows. Vows at a wedding are highly intimate. Take your time choosing the right wording for your vow because these are the unique words that will bind you and reflect your loyalty to one another. Express your love and happiness loudly and proudly and whether you want humor or are likely to bring your partner to tears, write your vows as if you were speaking only to your partner. Every moment of the ceremony is worth photographing and reminiscing about, especially the wedding vows. Reading your vow confidently in front of everyone will surely lead you to tears, but expressing it proudly will certainly touch everyone's heart.

Final Say

Why do you say wedding vows in the first place? The essence of wedding vows, whether traditional or modern, is to make promises to your partner about your love and commitment to them. Marriage vows are exchanged in front of God as well as family and friends. You will also make 'Declarations,' which pledge that you will both love and care about each other in a way that pleases God. Your wedding ceremony should reflect the two of you and your love for each other.
