Josiah and Kira's Cincinnati Wedding

Pouring rain didn’t ruin this beautiful day for Josiah and Kira! It may have changed a few plans, but hey, wedding days never go as planned. Josiah and Kira came to me as a referral from a photographer friend back in February, and as soon as we met via Skype, I knew we were the perfect fit for each other. This goofy, fun couple were planning a wedding that sounded like something I would have planned, and they were the type of people that I could see myself being friends with. It’s not often that you feel that way about a couple before you meet in person and spend time with them, but we hit it off right away.

During our Skype call we talked about their wedding plans and their goal for their wedding. Both of their families grew up in the Cincinnati area, but many aunts and uncles had since left and raised their families other places. Josiah and Kira wanted to show their families how amazing and lively Cincinnati had become over the years. With a local hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant catering and their ceremony and reception venue having a bar that serves local brews, they were sure to do just that. As someone who had never visited Cincinnati before, they made me fall in love with the city right away!

A week before the wedding, Kira texts me to let me know that they had changed the location for their first look. Originally, we were going to walk to a park just down the street from her parent’s house where they were getting ready. With rain in the forecast, we had to come up with a different solution. Kira’s dad plays oboe (Woot Woot! I’m an oboist too!) in the Cincinnati Symphony and he was able to pull a few strings to allow us to do the first look in the lobby of the Cincinnati Music Hall, even though everyone was on break. This was the absolute perfect location to go with their theme of music and and showing off Cincinnati. Their first look was filled with emotion and excitement as they knew this was the start of a new chapter in their lives.

Josiah and Kira’s wedding venue was a gorgeous old theater in the Over-The-Rhine district called Woodward Theater. It was the perfect blend of old and new to showcase Cincinnati. With a live band and local food paired with the old architecture of the venue, it was the perfect way to celebrate these two! Oh, I should also mention that the backdrop you see during the ceremony and the flowers are all made by Kira and her family! How awesome is that!? Check out some of my favorite moments from their special day!
