So I met Caleb almost 7 years ago now, because he is really good friends with my husband. Every time I was in town to see Matt, we would hang out with Matt’s group of friends, which included Caleb. We have all watched countless sports games together, played way too many board games, and even played a summer of beach volleyball together. Lisa and I, well it’s hard to say when we first met. We both grew up in the competitive baton twirling world, so it is safe to say our worlds crossed at an early age, but we didn’t become friends until she started dating Caleb. I was so excited when these two asked me to photograph their wedding!

For their engagement session, we headed to Sidecut Metropark in Maumee, Ohio. We planned for the evening when the light was absolutely beautiful thanks to Golden Hour. First, we wandered the tall grass areas that is such a cliche of the midwest, but oh so pretty.

Next, we joked as we walked down to my favorite place in the park. Northwest Ohio is filled with small creeks and beautiful waterfront views, and Sidecut Metropark sits right along the Maumee River. A few years back, the park dealt with issues with ice from the river destroying the park. Thankfully, the park is back to normal now and looking as beautiful as ever.

We strolled along the path that followed the Maumee River, and found gorgeous locations that let the beautiful golden hour light shine through the wooded path. We found a spot where a tree had fallen, which made the perfect spot for a few sitting photos.

After, we crossed the road to the other side of the park. The north side of Sidecut Metropark does not border the Maumee River, but it has a small pond and locks within the area. We headed over to my favorite place on this side, the willow trees. The willow trees create the perfect frame for portraits, and the golden hour continued to shine and provide beautiful lighting.
