What to Wear For Your Nashville, TN Engagement Session

What to Wear For Your Engagement Session

As a photographer, one of my favorite photoshoots to do is and engagement session. The images of your engagement should be a fun, less formal preview of the photos of your wedding day. An engagement photo shoot is a chance to capture your relationship at one of the most unique moments. Such engagement photos will sweep you off your feet, from playful and fun to dramatic and romantic. Engagement sessions can be super creative, but that doesn't mean that it's all up to you to do it that way. Hang out as you normally do and chat with each other, so your pictures will turn out to be genuinely natural. Here are some tips for your photo engagement session.

What to wear?

  • Wear yourself. This means that couples should trust the outfit they are planning to wear. Your taste is one of the key factors when it comes to choosing engagement photo outfits. The clothes you pick help set the mood of your photographs of engagement, so wear pieces that feel like you.

  • Get dressed up. Engagement is an experience once in a lifetime. Get the couple dressed up. Select something that will make you feel like you are the best version of yourself. Wear something nicer and something more casual, this way you have a variety of photos for your home

  • Dress for comfort. Comfort is key, it will show on camera. The couple should feel more relaxed in the outfits they choose, complement them, but never wear matching clothes.

  • Don’t wear small stripes. This can show up distorted in photos. Small, tight patterns, like very narrow stripes, are not the best photos to take. Focusing on color coordination and again not matching colors and styles.

  • Wear your shoes. Be comfortable in the shoes you are wearing. Walking during sessions is a must! You might want to avoid stilettos on the beach, open-toed shoes will attract attention to your legs and feet. Closed-toed shoes will make your photos look elegant and masculine. Flats or flip-flops to walk between photo locations may be advisable.

  • Get inspiration from the environment. Your chosen site, location, venue, or environment can give you a better idea of what to wear with your engagement photos, you might want to avoid bare arms in the snow, right? or if you're taking photos in a wooded area, I'd recommend that you don't wear green or too dark colors because you can blend in. Remember, the more confident you feel, the better your photos will be. Also, always check the weather to make sure you're prepared for any unexpected weather changes.

Final Advice

You'll want to look the best because you'll likely use these pictures for save-the-dates, wedding day plans, or event invitations. Any big photo session comes with a lot of stress, one of which shouldn't be to choose what to wear for your engagement photos. So make sure to follow these tips, which we compiled especially for you.

And last but not least... Be yourself and be the best version of yourself and have fun! Being engaged is an amazingly fun thing.
