Okay, if you want to become friends with the absolute sweetest people ever, these are the people you want to meet! Before their engagement session, I had only met Taryn through FaceTime while we were talking about their wedding and booking me to photograph their Memphis wedding. If you would have seen us on the day of their engagement session though, you would have never believed that. They are the best and most welcoming people ever!

When planning their engagement session, I was up front. I had never been to Memphis, but I was going to do all the research I could to help them plan the most beautiful engagement session. One thing that was super important to them was getting photos along the Mississippi River, because that is where their relationship began. So, what better way to start the session than with where their relationship started, and we did just that.

I don’t think I have experienced a better welcome to Memphis than walking along the Mississippi River with the skyline in the background with a wonderful couple. For some reason, the wind was extra crazy that day, but we managed it the best we could, and honestly, it led to a lot of fun! Josh and Taryn were dressed up for this part of the session, and Taryn’s long dress caught beautifully in the wind! As we walked along the path, I got to know Taryn and Josh so much better. We then found an adorable metal bridge that connected the path along the river to the residential neighborhood across the street. This location was unique and fun!

As I was researching Memphis, and where would be a great place for engagement photos, I stumbled across the South Main Arts district. It was the perfect, quaint little downtown area, filled with murals, adorable store front, and beautiful brick walls. This was the perfect location for Josh to switch into his Army medic uniform and for Taryn to wear a more casual but cute outfit.

We wandered the streets, and took in the happiness surrounding their engagement and the upcoming wedding! Josh and Taryn even went along with my crazy antics of me yelling, “Oooh! Look at that brick wall!” and me standing in the middle of the street to get “just the right shot”. After a bit of time, we realized how close we were to their reception venue, so we walked over and they gave me a tour of the place. Oh guys, it will be stunning!

After their engagement session, I sent them off for a little bit to grab dinner before our fun reveal session. This in-person reveal was so fun and you could just see how excited they truly were for their upcoming marriage.

Oh by the way, I am always up for having fun after our sessions! Josh, Taryn, and I went to FedEx Forum after their reveal session to watch the Memphis Grizzlies play the Detroit Pistons, because it just so happened that our favorite teams were playing each other the day of their session. What a coincidence!?
