Wedding Planning 101: The Do’s and Don’ts of a Winter Wedding in Nashville

Planning a Winter Wedding in Nashville, Tennessee

Winter weddings certainly fall under the list of most romantic ceremonies to plan. The enchantment that the season brings makes them all the more romantic and special. But as good as it sounds on paper, there are some considerations you’d have to take in order to have the magical experience that you imagine. Here are the quintessential do’s and don’ts when hosting a winter wedding ceremony.

The Do’s and Don’ts of a Winter Wonderland Wedding Planning

Do: Incorporate Colors to Your Theme

A winter wedding doesn’t have to be an all-white motif. Add a splash of color to your decorations and invites that perfectly complements the fantasy you want to fulfill. If you want to head towards the elegant side, you can pair white with gold or silver, navy blue or black, and maybe a rich wine red. But if the goal is to play off the whimsey, you can go bold color choices like peach, rose pink, or green. The good thing with white is that it could work with any color of your choice.

Don’t: Let Guests Get Cold

Come up with a plan where guests don’t freeze in the cold weather. First things first is to remind them to dress for the cold. Second is to consider the venue. If you’re eyeing an indoor ceremony, then make sure the room has a proper heating system.

But if you really want to feel the snow on your backs and host an outdoor ceremony, then don’t leave your guests outside for long or make them walk long distances from the ceremony to the reception area. Make sure that there is a warm area where they can stay before the ceremony. They can take their seats outside when it’s about to begin. And with this kind of setup, you really can’t have a long ceremony. You’d have to cut to the chase

Do: Bundle Up!

You and your wedding party can’t get cold either. Make sure both of you have winter-ready clothes planned out. A coat over a tuxedo still looks dapper enough for the groom and his best men. And dresses with sleeves can be a fashionable and practical choice for this wedding setup. Remember that you’re not just dressing for the ceremony. There’s pictures to be taken too!

Don’t: Worry about the Weather

Just because there’s a lot of prep work behind this doesn’t mean you have to be anxious about it. As long as you’re prepared and have plans for every possible scenario, then you’re going to have a wonderful winter wedding.

Do: Have a Cozy Reception

Light up a fireplace or hold an indoor bonfire. This, of course, depends on the venue. But take note that the reception is the longer half of the wedding. So to avoid irritable guests and frostbite, you would need to take every step to ensure they’re warm and cozy. From the venue all up to the food you serve. Weather like this calls for hot food that warms the body from within. Soup would be a must in the menu. Cold desserts? Optional.

The dance floor also has to be warm enough for people to get their move on. Ask the venue if there’s a way to keep the floor less cold-to-the-touch. And make sure your band or DJ don’t get cold too.
